Today marks a very special transition for the Sew-Op. We competed as one of nine finalists in UAB's Community Health Innovation Awards (forever fondly known to us as CHIA) and were granted $13,000 for our project, Woodlawn Sewing Training: a pilot program to develop a curriculum of sewing skills. We have identified a client with a working prototype that needs refinement and will share all of the details soon. Plan to hear a lot more out of us here on our blog as one of our promises was to keep the community abreast of our progress as the training unfolds.

We asked the ladies to deliver and did they ever! The Unity Church Holiday Show will be chock full of wall hangings. Thirteen women made sixteen hangings and the themes range from Christmas to the seashore to Africa to sleeping kittens. If you are in Birmingham this Sunday, Dec. 6th, make sure to stop by Unity Church for our reception (12:30-3PM). If you can't make it Sunday, the show will run through the holidays.
