On Monday, June 12th, Bib & Tucker Sew-Op will unveil its LOVING QUILT as part of the national celebration of the 50th anniversary of the supreme court ruling, Loving Vs. Virginia, which knocked down the ban on interracial marriage. The LOVING QUILT is part of The March Quilts project and Loving Vs. Virginia is the third theme the project has tackled.
More than 100 blocks were made in 11 sewing sessions around Birmingham. Bib & Tucker facilitated sessions at UAB Hospital, Homewood Library, Birmingham's Central Public Library, the Birmingham Museum of Art among others. Come see the work of hundreds of Birmingham citizens - all celebrating love being color blind. Quilts from all three years of the project will be on view from 9AM to 5PM on Monday, June 12th along the walkway between UAB Hospital's North Pavilion and UAB's Women and Infants Center (2nd floor). This event is free and open to the public. |
